A Note on Tariffs and Pricing at Laughlin Mercantile

A Note on Tariffs and Pricing at Laughlin Mercantile

With all the recent headlines about tariffs and trade tensions, it’s understandable that many shoppers are wondering how this might affect the prices of the goods they buy. At Laughlin Mercantile, I want to be as transparent as possible about how these changes may—or may not—impact business and our customers.

The good news? For the most part, you shouldn’t expect to see any price increases here.

WHY WE'RE LARGELY UNAFFECTED (SO FAR)

One of the founding principles of Laughlin Mercantile has been a commitment to quality, small-batch production, and American-made goods. Most of the items we carry—especially my own clothing line and PHILANDRY skin and grooming products—are manufactured right here in the U.S., including many of the fabrics used in the apparel. This domestic focus helps insulate us from the direct impact of tariffs on imported goods.

A FEW MINOR ADJUSTMENTS

There are a few areas where we may feel some ripple effects:

  • Certain fabrics used in planned upcoming pieces are sourced from Canada, and as a result, I've chosen to postpone production on those items for the time being. Hopefully we will be able to purchase fabrics from our good neighbors up north again soon.
  • Frye boots and shoes, which are mostly made in Mexico, may see price increases from the manufacturer, which could eventually be reflected in retail pricing.
  • The packaging for PHILANDRY products is imported from the Netherlands, but the products themselves are made in the U.S. We don’t expect this to affect pricing, though we’re monitoring it closely.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

Even in times of uncertainty, my priorities remain the same: quality, transparency, and value. Could there be indirect impacts that I am not anticipating? Possibly. But we're doing everything we can to avoid any increased costs behind the scenes so that our customers don’t feel it at checkout.

We’re proud to support domestic manufacturing and ethical sourcing, and we deeply appreciate your support of small, independent businesses like ours!

As always, if you have questions or thoughts, feel free to reach out or stop by the shop. Your trust means the world to me, and we’ll continue doing all we can to earn it. Tariffs or no tariffs.
